PRESERVING A TRANQUIL SANCTUARY

This stone detached house in an exclusive rural setting was built in the 1980s to a very high standard but hadn’t been touched since. We were appointed by the client before the house was purchased so we could advise on what renovations needed to be done. The client has an engineering background and naturally high expectations of a building contractor.

The 320 sqm property was totally renovated over the course of 6 months to a very high quality specifications. Interior renovations included new bathrooms, staircase, windows and floors including custom-made oak barn arch patio doors and windows. The curved doors opened onto a new terrace built by us as part of extensive exterior works. Built on a slope, the garden had poor drainage which we fixed with landscaping and a new drainage system making the garden much more pleasant. New paths and walls were built to increase access to the garden as well as a new driveway.

Project Challenge: Working in this exclusive rural residential area involved sticking to strict work times and noise limits out of respect for neighbouring properties. With the amount of groundworks required and a tight schedule, planning and efficiency was key.
